Jack Henrie Fisher and Andrew Lister awarded Graham Foundation grants

The UIC School of Design faculty Jack Henrie Fisher and Andrew Lister are among the recipients of the 2018 Grants to Individuals program awarded by the The Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts.

Jack Henrie Fisher, Assistant Professor of Graphic Design, is awarded a grant for the third issue of Counter-Signals, a journal he co-publishes with Alan Smart, as part of Other Forms, their co-founded office for design and publishing. Counter-Signals 3 is dedicated to platforms, "collecting stories of the system builders and visionary vectoralists, the wardens of these prisons and the barons of these railroads, as well as of the screws that pace their catwalks, their switchmen and engineers, the inmates digging tunnels underneath them, and the hobos who ride its rails and mark its rolling stock with their own wild system of signs."

Andrew Lister, Assistant Professor of Graphic Design, in cooperation with Matthew Stuart is awarded a grant for a project brings together the written output and collected art objects of the overlooked art historian, writer, librarian, curator, critic, and “lapsed anarchist,” Ron Hunt. The research culminates in a publication and accompanying exhibition at Ex-Libris Gallery, housed in the former library of the original 1910 Fine Art building of Newcastle University.
