UIC Design Students Win White Space Innovation Challenge
UIC Design students Tom Groom, Andrew Kunk, Tracie Thompson and Christel Tiu won the White Space Innovation Challenge sponsored by the Product Development Mangers Association (PDMA) and Northwestern University, with participants from Purdue, Northwestern, and UIC. The competition stems from an eight-week intensive investigation into innovative and empathetic design with the challenge of finding a gap in a product market.
The team from UIC designed a device for self-pleasure and charging/cleaning cradle called Spark*, which along with an age-, body-, and sex-positive campaign aims to improve the health of mature women by empowering them to embrace and enjoy their sexuality.
